A door that won’t close is the most common call we get — and about half the time, it’s something you can fix in five minutes. Run through this list before booking a repair.
1. Check the photo-eye sensors
The two small sensors near the floor must see each other. Clean the lenses and make sure both LEDs glow steadily. A blinking light means they’re misaligned — gently bend the bracket until it steadies.
2. Clear the tracks
A pebble, leaf buildup, or a dented track section will stop the door and reverse it.
3. Look at the remote lock switch
Wall consoles often have a ‘lock’ or ‘vacation’ button that disables remotes. Kids love pressing it.
4. Adjust the close-limit setting
If the door touches the floor then springs back up, the opener thinks it hit an obstruction. The close-limit dial on the opener needs a small adjustment.
